Car to be at auction 11/18
angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/saturday-3rd-november-2018/1977-jaguar-xjs-pre-h ...

Auction description:
1977 Jaguar XJS - PRE HE
Lot Number:
Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000
V5 Present
Chassis number: 2W2286BW

5,343cc. Automatic. Purchased by the vendor as a Christmas present in 1995. He believes the mileage of 88,207 to be genuine having covered only 16,000 miles since 1990. The car was MoT'd in 2017 following eleven years of storage and although appears mechanically sound, would benefit from a full service and check‑over. The bodywork would benefit from some attention. It is currently fitted with the later HE bumpers and aftermarket wheels. The history file includes current and older V5's dating back to 1977, MoT's, history to 2003, service receipts and letter from a previous owner. Mileage recorded at 88,207.

This Jaguar XJS-Sports Coupe V12 Pre-HE is a 1977 UK registered in its original colour of Old English White with Black Leather seats. This is similar to the XJ-S featured in the TV series "The Saint."This Jaguar has only done approximately 8,000 miles since 1997, the other 80,000 was done in the first 20 years of its life. It was lady owned from 1995, with previous MoTs, copies of all logbook owner's letters, Hand Book and Service Receipts, one with £800 spent 2 years ago on new front brake calipers, steering rack bush mount kit and MoT repair work carried out. The car has the later style lattice wheels and stronger bumpers fitted. Also sold with the original type 4 Kent alloy wheels, 3 of which in need of refurbishment, while the other is in nice condition. All 5 tyres are Pirelli, Super Touring in good condition. A  new exhaust system was fitted 2 years ago. Has been dry stored through the years and has storage marks, while the interior is very good for the age, being over 40 years old. The car is now tax, Mot and ULEZ exempt, being future proof, a good classic investment.

Drives superbly through the gears and with good oil pressure, which benefits an MoT until June 2020.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
