Very rare test car brought to the US by Jaguar to see how the removable t top version would go down here. All US XJS's to this point were V12, automatic, hardtop versions. This is believed to be 1 of 20 imported and comes with its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certifiacte. Sold new in Southern California and lived here its whole life. Passes the California smog test. The top has 2 optional back sections - one is fold down canvas the other has a hard shell and both come with the car.
Immaculate body with superb original paint. Lovely original interior, the headline on drivers side targa top is sagging and should be reglued or replaced.
Mechanically excellent, good strong engine, excellent oil pressure, no smoke. Great transmission with a comfortables shift, good syncros and clutch. A/C is cold, heat is hot, windows work well as do the lights, etc. This is a very rare and special Jag.
