Car to be at auction 8/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/531655
Auction description:
Lot 39
1985 Jaguar XJ-SC HE
Estimate: £5,000-7,000
1985 Jaguar XJ-SC HE
Estimate: £5,000-7,000
On offer from a deceased estate with family ownership since 1992; TWR wheels fitted with originals included; ripe for gentle recommissioning after 4 years in storage and only 1,000 miles covered in the past 16 years
Supplied new by Appleyard of Harrogate in August 1985 to Richardson & Co. of Manchester the car was originally registered 66HAR this XJ-SC HE V12 Cabriolet is of the targa top variant with removable roof sections.
Finished in Bordeaux Red with doeskin hide interior the car rides on a set of Speedline alloy wheels although the originals are included and with us. The car comes to us sadly, from a deceased estate and has been with our owners since 1992, transferring into the wife’s name in 2018 following her husbands demise.
Showing 96,148 miles the car has covered little mileage in the past few years bar annual outings for an MOT covering only 3 miles in the last 12 months and less than 500 miles in the last 7 years. It had a period of 6 or 7 years off the road prior to that and less than 1,000 miles covered in the last 15 years.
As a result, the car would no doubt benefit from a thorough service and check over given it has seen such little use, however, the MOT history looks exemplary with no advisories recorded in the past few years and prior to that they were very minor. The car comes with a current clean MOT valid until May 2022 which bodes well. In the boot we find a spare TWR steering wheel, some Jaguar rubber mats and Haynes manual which is an added bonus.
Within the history file, we find the V5C showing 4 former keepers (1 being the vendor’s late husband), 2 sets of keys, the owner’s pack with service book showing 9 old stamps, the last in 1992 at 78,406 miles, some 16 old MOTs dating back to 1992 and file of invoices for parts and routine maintenance dating from 2016 back to 1991 plus an XJS parts catalogue.
The car could, with some time, effort and modest outlay be a very nice example with some cosmetics required (as pictured) to bring it up to par. With good XJ SC HE versions commanding £10k+ this looks like an enticing buy at the guide price.
