This Jaguar XJ-S V12 Convertible is a very well-presented example of the marque’s modern classic convertible grand tourer, with only two registered keepers from new and a strong recent service history.

It is powered by a 5.3-litre naturally aspirated ‘High Efficiency’ V12 engine, producing around 295bhp, driving the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.

The odometer shows just 64,145 miles.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

The car is finished in light blue with a coordinating dark blue convertible roof over a cream leather interior with wood veneer inlays.

It rides on 15-inch ‘Lattice’ alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli P600 tyres.

The factory specification includes electrically adjustable heated seats with two-position driver memory, dual-zone climate control, front fog lamps, headlight washers, cruise control, trip computer, Jaguar branded cassette player and an electrically operated roof mechanism.

The car comes with the full owner’s book pack and original toolkit.

CONDITION

There is no known bodywork damage on the car.

The blue paintwork is reported to be in generally excellent condition. There is a small dent in the front chrome grille trim, some minor stone chips on the bonnet, mild wear on the rear badges, some rust spots on the nearside front bumper, as well as blemishes on the nearside fog light cover and wing mirror.

Stepping inside, the cabin is presented in great shape for its age. There is creasing to both seats, with mild wear on the driver’s seat bolster, but no damage or significant discolouration. There are also some light blemishes on the chrome ashtrays and scratches on the centre armrest.

The radio is only working intermittently, but there are no other known mechanical or electrical faults or foibles with the car.

The most recent MOT test was on 16 May 2022 at 64,150 miles and was a first-time pass with no advisories.

SERVICE HISTORY

The most recent maintenance was in March 2021 at 59,753 miles by MJF Engineering.

A new steering rack and track rod ends were fitted in March 2021.

Rear trailing arms and new Pirelli P600 tyres were fitted in March 2018.

The alloy wheels have been refurbished.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
