This car is a very interesting piece of Jaguar history. It's a very early 3.6 and possibly a prototype car, it remained at the Jaguar factory unregistered for 6 months possibly used as a test car. Jaguar Cars Ltd road registered the car in Jaguar's name, the car was then dispatched to TWR Jaguar Sports to be converted. This conversion TWR number 008 was the first 3.6 XJS to be converted buy the renowned race team and completed on the 4th April 1984, 3 weeks after registration. The car was still kept registered to Jaguar Cars Ltd.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
