The Appeal

Jaguar is a hot topic right now, given the controversial recent company rebrand. Love it or loathe it, clearly people are passionate about the Big Cat's future. And when you consider Jaguar's illustrious history, it's easy to see why.

Take this XJS for example - what we now consider a proper old-school Jag.

Replacing the E-Type, the XJ-S (latterly sans hyphen) was arguably as bold as Jaguar's recent change in direction. Gone were its predecessor's soft curves, replaced by muscular haunches and 'flying buttresses'. It had an altogether different character, too. Here was a purpose-built GT designed with long-distance touring in mind. Any doubts were dispelled once reviewers got behind the wheel, and those later XJS built under Ford ownership are particularly well-regarded. This is one of those cars equipped with the then-new 4.0-litre AJ6 engine

This XJS was cherished by its previous owner for two decades and has been similarly well cared for by the vendor who has owned it since June 2021. Regularly serviced, complete with a fresh set of tyres and an advisory-free MOT valid until 29 May 2025, this Jaguar is ready to go.

The vendor comments:

"I always wanted a Jag. Every way you look at it, there is something to admire.

The XJS is "unique" because of the simple Flying Buttress design, which causes lots of head-turning and admiration at the few shows I have attended. It is a "real" Grand Tourer

In the very short time I have had it I have really enjoyed the driving with it and am only parting with it unfortunately due to health reasons."

Well-preserved chromework, badging and glass

The vendor notes: "it is extremely comfortable and although low to the road surface, having large doors, it is easy to access, while the seats are easy to adjust so that you can attain your ideal position"
