Car to be at auction 4/09
www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r

Auction description:
Sale 17254 - Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 20 Apr 2009
RAF Museum, Hendon
Lot No: 356
1979 Jaguar XJS V12 Coupé
Registration no. KGD 798T
Chassis no. JNAEW3AC100845
Estimate: £4,000 - 6,000

This car, fitted with a TWR body kit and wheels, was, we are informed, the subject of a body-off, bare metal restoration in 2000 at which time new floors, rear wings, suspension pick-up points, door skins and much more were fitted. At that time the engine and gearbox were removed, inspected and any necessary remedial work carried out. The leather trim was Connollised, the carpets replaced, the wood trim refurbished and a Moto-lita steering wheel was fitted, along with a new sound system. The car covered just 6,000 or so miles with its then owner following that restoration before acquisition for the vendor’s collection in 2005. The car is strikingly presented in red livery with cream leather upholstery. It comes with a substantial invoice file recording the restoration work completed, together with Swansea V5C registration document and MoT certificate valid to October 2009.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
