The car has been a labour of love for the current owner who has addressed any area where he considered the XJ-S needed maintenance or improvement.
Initially intending to convert a car from automatic to manual, eventually the car he found that had the history and condition he was looking for had already been converted professionally and he believed was all the better for it.
Over his years of ownership he has further improved the car by fitting Koni shock absorbers and renewing the rear sub-frame, trailing arms and bushes, and completely overhauling the cooling system with a re-cored radiator and new coolant hoses.
The Interior
• Grey leather interior
• Air conditioning
• Electric windows and heated front seats
• Trip computer
The Jaguar interior has plenty of wood and leather and, other than some slight wear evident on the bolster of the driver’s seat and some slight staining to one of the rear seats, it is in very nice condition, with the doors closing with that real quality sound and feel.
The headlining, carpets, dashboard and door cards are all clean and without any obvious wear or damage and so overall it presents very well indeed.
A more modern DAB and Bluetooth radio has been fitted which also allows hands-free phone operation, though the removed Jaguar radio is also available and comes with the car.
The Exterior
• Very nice overall condition
• Excellent original wheels with good tyres
• Finished in Arctic Blue
The condition of the bodywork and paint suggests this is a car used to being garaged and certainly there is no real evidence or signs of any corrosion.
All the external chrome is all in really good condition, as are all the rubber window and door seals, with only a tiny ding in the bonnet and in the rear bumper, and a small scratch on the passenger door detracting very slightly from its overall excellent presentation.
Sitting squarely on the road the wheels are all free from any corrosion or kerb damage and all have good serviceable tyres and, in the carpeted and very clean boot you’ll find the spare wheel, tools and the useful addition of a battery isolator switch for long-term parking or winter lay-up.
The Mechanics
• Comprehensive service history
• Fully serviced last October
• New Koni shock absorbers
• New gearbox mounts
• New ‘Rolls Royce’ air conditioning pump
Well maintained and garaged throughout its life the engine roars into life at the first turn of the key, producing a superb sound from the twin exhausts, and then quickly settling down to a smooth idle.
Only the cruise control requires some attention as it currently does not work but this is a car to drive so, like the current owner, this may not bother the next owner in the slightest.
The current owner further advises a small weep of hydraulic fluid from the power steering, but not to the extent where it will leave fluid on your garage floor.
