Car to be at auction 9/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/539505
Auction description:
Lot 114
1982 Jaguar XJS HE V12
Estimate: £8,000-10,000
Smart, earlier HE model showing 92,000 miles in lovely, restored order with good history file from 32 year ownership
Dating from March 1982 this smart red XJS HE (High Efficiency) features Jag’s proven 5.3 litre V12 engine which developed, in HE guise, 295bhp as a result of the ‘Fire ball’ combustion chamber developed by Swiss engineer Michael May which drove the rear wheels via 3-speed automatic transmission.
Riding on its original 5-spoke 15-inch wheels, this earlier HE car features an eye-catching gold pin stripe down its flanks and contrasting (to the red coachwork) Doeskin interior with matching centre console, wood veneer trim combined with black dash top, electric windows, heated rear screen and period radio.
The car has evidently seen some restorative work undertaken (undocumented), the car having been re-painted, the wheels refurbished and the head-lining renewed and looks sharp as a result with but a few minor cosmetics typical of the model to consider, as pictured.
Showing c.92,000 miles supported by a good history file this example shows just 3 previous owners on the V5C to the current of some 32 years with a selection of invoices for routine maintenance and parts including a small service and NS rear spring in November 2020 at 89,429 miles a further £414 spend in November 2019 at 70,909 miles on a replacement door lock and PAS pipe replacement, 2 new tyres in October 2019, major service inc. plugs and exhaust manifold gaskets in October 2018, steering rack overhaul in September 2018, repair to the chassis section and replacement cam cover gaskets in December 2017, transmission oil change in October 2017 plus £1700 spent in November 2015 on corrosion repair to front cross member and 4x new shock absorbers, springs and new oil cooler.
The maintenance invoices on file continue, and date back to 2011 along with 3 old MOTs plus the current valid until November 2021 showing 7 advisories recorded (view online at check-mot.service.gov.uk and enter the registration).
An attractive, earlier HE coupe ready to be enjoyed with low ownership from a long-term owner and under 100,000 miles in an appealing colour combination.
