This Rare Jaguar XJS V12 Le Mans 1991 coupé was purchased by the vendor from a salvage yard in Camberley in 1993. The car was moved to a Rolls Royce/Jaguar repair specialist garage who proceeded to get the car repaired to its former glory. The car was put onto a Jag jig and had all the front offside wing and inner suspension replaced. The whole car was resprayed at a cost of £5000 and the vendor delivery several weeks later. At this time the insurance pay-outs and categories of damage to a car were not listed as Category B, Category C, Category D etc. The original owners of the car would not have the car repaired and didn't want the car back and so the insurers paid for the full loss of the car. Hence on the HPI register it comes up as a total loss. However, the car was not written off but was a damaged reparable car. The vendor used the car for a few years, had loads of fun with it, put it in storage, ran it occasionally and MOT'd it as needed.
It was last serviced at the Jaguar Centre in Thame, South Oxfordshire. They described the car to be in 1st class condition. Underside mint. Rear shockers replaced. The inside is all leather, Le Mans embossed, red piping to match the colour, metallic burgundy red. The car is described by the vendor as good all round and to drive very well. There is a letter from Jaguar confirming that it is one of only a limited edition of Le Mans cars built. The Jaguar service record book is supplied with the car.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
