Condition

Mechanically the car is very sound and dependable. The car has been on multiple long haul road trips from Louisville-Milwaukee-Dallas-Louisville, Louisville-Houston-Tampa-Louisville, and several more...all with no issues. I would suggest going through the brakes, steering and suspension components at some point in the near future if you are wanting to do any type of competitive driving with the vehicle. We used as many GM parts as possible during the engine conversion, including ECM, radiator and condenser, wiring harness, air pump, and more. We eliminated as much of the Jaguar components as possible that were known to create issues.

The exterior paint is in pretty good shape for being 12 years old. The car has no rust I know of. Paint is now 12 years old and has minor defects. Paint has minor chips, scratches, and scuffs; primarily on the front end. The trim pieces around the windshield and front grille could use a fresh coat of paint or touch up. Window weather stripping has begun to dry rot and break off, so if the car is going to be exposed to the elements I would suggest replacing those as well.

The interior is in good condition with minor defects. The black cloth seats are showing minor wear and fade from entry/exit. Rear seats have been used maybe twice and are in great shape. Interior was originally tan, so new black carpet installed and door panels and other trim painted black. Auto Meter gauges are fully functional. A/C is ice cold.

Overall, the car is a very fun car you can drive anywhere with confidence. It actually gets great gas mileage on the highway (1500rpm at 80mph). Everyone stares at it and asks what it is because they've never seen one. It doesn't look like an old Jag because of the body kit, and I have searched the internet high and low for another Arden body kit or XJS with one but have been unsuccessful. XJS' were only shipped to North America with automatic transmissions. This car was converted to manual using a factory Jaguar right-hand drive clutch assembly shipped from England. This car is by no means perfect, but it is mechanically sound, a blast to drive, and truly one of a kind.

This 1980 Jaguar XJS is a first-generation coupe powered by a 5.7L LT1 V8 and Tremec T-56 6-speed manual transmission from a 1995 Pontiac Trans-Am. The exterior was repainted in silver, and further modifications included an Arden body kit, 17″ ADR wheels, D&D seats, removable harness bar, stainless steel fuel cell, trunk-mounted battery, custom stereo with Nakamichi amplifiers, and European-market headlights. The engine swap was performed 19k miles ago according to the odometer installed during the conversion. This XJS is offered by the selling dealer with service records and a clean Missouri title.

The car was stripped and repainted in its present silver when the conversion was performed, and is fitted with an Arden body kit including an air dam, rear valance, and side skirts. Stock US-market bumpers have been retained, and much of the exterior brightwork has been refinished in black.

The 17″ ADR wheels are fitted with new 245/45 Achilles tires. The car is fitted with European-market headlights, and the North American-market side markers have been removed.

Interior modifications include a pair of DND adjustable-back seats. The stock 3-point belts have been removed in favor of harnesses, though only the lap belts are currently fitted. A harness bar with the upper belts is included and pictured in the gallery. The stock rear seats have been retained.

The pedal assembly was made from a factory manual-transmission setup for an XJS. A custom center console retains some stock switchgear, the shifter for the 6-speed manual transmission and an aftermarket stereo head unit, which is paired with replacement speakers and Nakamichi amplifiers.

Silver-faced AutoMeter instrumentation includes gauges for fuel level, voltage, water temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer shows 19k miles, which is reportedly the total since the swap was completed.

The stock 5.3L V12 has been replaced with a 5.7L LT1 V8 from a 1995 Pontiac Trans-Am, which is backed by a T56 6-speed manual transmission and a 3.31:1 rear end. The car retains an OBD-II harness for tuning and fault diagnosis per the seller. A stainless steel fuel cell houses an in-tank pump. The swap was reportedly performed by an experienced restorer. The seller notes an engine speed of 1,500 rpm at 80 mph in sixth gear.

Records from the conversion are included. The last noted service was an oil and filter change performed six months ago. Per the seller, the suspension and brakes remain stock.

This 1980 Jaguar XJS was modified during previous ownership approximately 17 years ago with a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 and a six-speed manual transmission. It is finished in silver over a black interior, and the car features an Arden body kit, ADR wheels, racing seats, Sparco five-point harnesses, and a roll bar. This XJS was purchased by the seller on BaT in July 2018 and is now offered with service records and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was fitted with an Arden body kit during previous ownership before being repainted silver. The seller states that European-spec headlights have been added, and the chrome accents have been painted black. The front air dam shows road rash and a paint crack.

17” ADR wheels wear 245/45 Achilles ATR tires. The North American marker lamps have been removed.

The interior features front racing seats with five-point Sparco harnesses, along with a factory rear bench trimmed in black leather. The car is equipped with a removable roll bar, and a replacement turn signal switch is said to have been recently installed.

The leather-trimmed Nardi steering wheel fronts a dashboard that houses AutoMeter Pro-Comp gauges and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth connectivity that is connected to three Nakamichi amplifiers. Three subwoofers are located behind the rear seat. The car is equipped with an aftermarket shifter and a Burlwood shift knob, and a shift lever and knob from a Pontiac Trans Am are included in the sale. The digital odometer shows 20k miles, with true mileage unknown.

The car was originally equipped with a 5.3-liter V12, and a 5.7-liter LT1 V8 and a six-speed manual transmission reportedly from a 1995 Pontiac Trans Am were installed circa 2002 by a previous owner. A diagnostic port is located in the engine bay. A Dakota Digital fan module was recently installed, and an oil change was last performed in July 2018.

The trunk contains an aluminum fuel cell, a fuel pump, and the battery.

The sale includes service records, two sets of keys, and a set of replacement door seals.
