Second Owner to make contact in 2010 again Boston Mass. Again in Concours condition

I (3rd owner) took possession of the car in fall of 2011 with 49k miles on it. This car has had fine care all its life. I have a direct connection to the original owner and am pleased to be caretaker now.

This car has passive (motorized) seat belts. The firewall VIN appears incorrect for that single character. The US VIN is correct. I can't imagine that this was changed after the car was built as it was delivered very quickly upon completion. I can only assume the VIN is simply wrong. Has anyone else seen this or have an opinion?

    Hi Charles

Your car was built around 6 months or so prior to Passive seat belts being introduced with Vin 147544-- December 1987 ---so the first Cabriolet was probably Vin 147554

    regards

Charles sold the car in 2018. "Gentlefolk, I am a bit saddened to say that the time has come for me to have one less motorcar. I will be offering my 1988 XJ-SC to the public soon and I wanted to alert the group. If any of you know of a good home for it, please send me a private message. I will offer it to a group member or reference for a significantly reduced price, if I know it will go to a good home. It has had all engine seals replaced except the rear main seal, a new aluminum radiator and hoses, and has a new radio. The original radio (and security code) works and is included with the car. The only known issues are seat heaters don't work, and the driver's electric seat belt does not work. A replacement motor for this seat belt is also included. It has 58,362 miles. The Pirelli tires have about 12,000 on them. Never fear, I'll still have the 2011 XK in the garage. Cheers!".

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
