I hope you find this car interesting and to be to your liking. It will not be cheap, there are plenty of XJS' that need everything that are cheap. If you want a car that's close to showroom new, this is the one for you! I'm going to miss her, but I am out of space in the garage, so she has to go for now. I'll never have another one this nice that's for sure!
This is one of the prettiest Jaguar XJS coupes I've ever seen, with the Lister body works, the sexy lines, and the flashy hot red paint, this car is a stunner. She draws attention everywhere she goes, and looks sleek and sexy sitting still, just as the nameplate suggests it would- a Jaguar heart and soul!
This NON-SMOKER's Car is loaded with every factory option, aftermarket Alpine CD AM-FM radio and power antenna, Lister bodywork, bun-warmers and lumbar supports in the front seats. Of course it has power windows and locks, power steering, automatic transmission, ABS brakes and just about everything you'd expect on a fine luxury coupe. The original owners manual is included and is almost complete in every detail. All of the second owner's receipts are in a notebook and come with the car. A thumb drive copy of the detailed spread sheet is also included.
It's taken a long time, but we finally got this car back together and ready for some Jag lover to take home. We originally bought it from the original owner who was very upset when it blew a radiator hose and left him stranded on the side of the freeway in the 100 degree plus heat. When he got the repair estimate, he choked at the number (and after 18 years of mostly dealer service, it's hard to make him do that!) and decided to buy a new car to replace his venerable S-Car.
I bought her, to save her from the crusher, and had the now dead engine pulled out of the chassis. Many months and well over $13,000.00 later, the V12 engine was completely rebuilt with all new parts, fully balanced and professionally re-installed into the chassis. It was a joy to drive but we were always worried about taking a long trip, so it was relegated to Sunday morning coffee runs only.
Five years later it was time once again to revisit replacing all the hoses and fixing the small leaks on the engine. There was a serious case of sticker shock in the estimate! After doing some research on line and on the phone with John at John's Cars, we decided to pull the original V12 and put in a potent Pontiac GTO LS2 V8, 6.0 liters, over 400 horsepower and the matching transmission, a 4L60E that is geared perfectly for the torque curve of the engine actually adds one more gear over the Jaguar 3 speed automatic. With the original drive train removed we had the car fully disassembled and a custom paint job done on the car. House of Kolor Euro Red enamel was topped with red metal flake in two coats of clear. Over that came seven coats of Candy Apple Red and several more coats of clear. Parts and labor for the custom job was $13,000. After almost two years in the hot rod shop in Tucson, they turned the job over to Chuck's Speed Shop in west Phoenix who had it running and driving in just over two weeks. It was worth the long wait and the expense. The car looks fantastic, the paint shines so deeply you can almost walk into it. The engine runs smoothly, has more than 100HP over the factory V12 and weighs 350 pounds less. It gets more than double the gas mileage too with EPA estimates of 15 In Town and 23 Highway vastly superior to the 6-9MPG of the V12. The total for the engine and associated drive train parts and labor came to over $32,000! The car is a sleek and sexy redheaded rocket ship that is reliable and easy to drive safely and worry free anywhere. The classic European body wraps the rock solid GM engine and drive train flawlessly.
