This 1984 Jaguar XJS coupe is a non-running project finished in black over a Biscuit leather interior and equipped with a 3.6-liter inline-six linked to a five-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by the seller in 1992 and ownership was transferred to their son in August 2011. Additional equipment includes 15″ basketweave wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, fog lights, wood veneer interior trim, air conditioning, and power windows and door locks. Work performed since 2019 reportedly included re-plating the radiator core and cooling fins, as well as replacing the tires, speedometer transducer, ignition components, water pump, and various hoses and belts. This XJS project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the current owner with manufacturer’s literature, the removed factory stereo, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Michigan title in the current owner’s name.

The body is finished in black (PDE) and features chrome mirror caps and bumper trim, dual exhaust outlets, and front fog lights. Noted flaws shown in the gallery include misaligned rear bumper trim, checking paint, and corroded body panels. The right brake light does not illuminate.

Silver-finished 15″ basketweave wheels are mounted with 215/70 Michelin Defender T+H tires that show 2019 date codes. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, and work performed in 2019 reportedly included rebuilding the primary brake cylinder as well as replacing the brake calipers and rotors.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench upholstered in Biscuit leather, joined by color-coordinated door panels and a contrasting black dashboard. Wood veneer adorns the dash and door panels, and amenities include air conditioning as well as power windows and door locks. The stereo and trip computer are inoperative, the wood veneer is damaged, tears and creasing are visible on the upholstery, and the floorboards show corrosion.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 50k miles, approximately 21k of which were added under current family ownership. The speedometer transducer was reportedly replaced in May 2021, and total mileage is unknown.

The car is equipped with a DOHC 3.6-liter AJ6 inline-six. Work performed since 2019 reportedly included re-plating the radiator and cooling fins in addition to replacing the ignition rotor, module, and coil, distributor cap, spark plugs, water pump, and various hoses and belts. The seller notes that the engine does not start.

A Getrag five-speed manual transmission is linked to a rear differential. The seller states the throw-out bearing was replaced along with a clutch rebuild in 2011.

The removed factory stereo will accompany the car, along with manufacturer’s literature, a service manual, and rubber front floor mats.
