A binder full of service history
Mechanically smooth, quiet, no significant leaks/drips

Drivers seat, door seal and roof liner need attention. With these rectified, this car will be a near perfect original.
Current owner acquired the car from the original buyer in a non-running condition. A few minor repairs, see below, and the smog test was aced.
The original lady owner, and Jaguar enthusiast, took delivery of this car in May 1986. In the first six years or so it was her daily drive with her '67 series 2 e-type drop head saved for special occasions!
The car has been well maintained but had lain idle for 4 years. An extensive set of service records is provided with the car. Being garaged throughout its life the XJS is in good to excellent condition for year and mileage.
On inspection a bad connection in the injection wiring was fixed. A new ‘load relay' was installed. Then a change of oil and filter was performed, a new battery was installed and the car was started. Subsequently a couple of small exhaust leaks in the mid section of each pipe were patched with double layers of wrapped and clamped aluminum and sealant (see photos). Eventual replacement of the middle sections will be required, but the repairs should be good for a few thousand miles.
While fault finding the injection problem the associated wiring loom was moved from the engine valley and strapped to the fuel rail. This is a well-known procedure to remove the risk of chaffing, shorts to ground and related bad connections caused by heat, vibration and time when left in its original placement. It's a good idea to reposition the loom.
The car has done about 100 miles since smog and runs very well.
Bodywork and interior
The bodywork is in good condition with a few stone chips. But all are minor. The driver's door has some ‘opening knocks' on the outer edge, see photos. There are no rust areas. The paintwork shows virtually no sign of ageing and shines like new.
Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional.
All of the polished surfaces, inside and out, show no oxidation.
Wheels are excellent, with no damage or oxidation. The faux knock off wheel centers do show some wear but not severe at all. Very clean. Front tires are in good condition less than half worn, the rears are about two thirds worn.
Panel fitment is spot-on. Doors and trunk open and close super smoothly. The hood has new support struts, which seem to be a bit noisy, probably just wearing in.
Weatherstripping is nice except for the driver's door seal, which does need replacing. The sealing strips around the sunroof are faded and there are a couple of chips in the black sunroof surround.
The inside continues to show the car's well-maintained condition. All wood surfaces are excellent. The carpets have been covered by after-market mats and so have very little wear. (The after-market mats are worn.)
Dash is looks great. No cracks on either the dash top or the wood finish. Gauges are all functional, including odometer, which shows just over 111,490 actual miles from new. This is accurate based on known history, records, and outstanding condition of general wear items.
The driver's seat is probably the low point of the car; see photos/video. The left side outer bolster area is worn, not uncommon on this model, and the piping is showing through. On top of the rear seat there are a couple of areas where the stitching has frayed. Otherwise the leather is in good condition.

Oil pressure is good at around 60psi at 2000revs.
In the previous 10K miles a valve job was carried. A complete set of front-end suspension bushings along with the steering rack were replaced
Brakes deliver a good solid feel without vibration, variation in pedal travel or altering the car's direction while slowing. The front rotors show some signs of light rust due to lack of use but are not badly scored or worn. Same for the rear. Front pads are about half worn and rear pads are virtually new.
All auxiliary equipment works with the exception of the horn (relay and 12v feed are good - connection back to steering column?)
The heater is good but the air conditioning requires a re-charge.
The original radio has been replaced with a Sony 25W/channel FM/AM/Tape/CD (changer in the trunk). The electric antenna works, which is cool.
Electric windows and sunroof are fully functional. There is some sagging of the roof lining to the rear of the interior.
The underbody photos show rust areas but none of these are other than surface rust. None penetrate any of the metal surfaces. The exhaust repair is shown. The sills are absolutely solid with zero sign of rust or even break up of paintwork. While some photos seem to show traces of surface oil, this car leaves zero drip marks from extended parking of many days.
All the under panels are dent free.
This Jaguar XJS V12 looks great and drives great. Its ready to go as is, without any required work or costs.
If looked after it will likely deliver many more years of joyful high speed cruising trying to listen to the smooth V12 purring away some feet in front of you.
