Ebay item 3/19/19
www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jaguar-XJS-Leather/123698183672
Current bid:
US $1,125, no reserve, 3 bids 6 days left in auction, seller fb5207, 122k miles.
Seller's description:
For auction is a beautiful unmolested Jag XJS. For an enthusiast looking for an absolutely straight and original car, this is a great candidate.
This XJS is an Arizona car from new. No known damage history, original paint, absolutely no rust, straight and original. It spent most of its life in Phoenix before moving to Tucson several years ago. About two years ago it was re-commissioned after an unknown period of storage. For the past year and a half it's been used as an active/daily driver.
Work in the past two years has included: fixes to wiring; an after-market aluminum radiator and electric fans; an added temperature gauge cluster (measures cylinder head, radiator inlet, and radiator outlet temps); various small mechanical fixes to get to daily-use reliability.
Air conditioning is non-op - some of the duct work has been removed. Power steering is non-op due to a leaking rack. The car is surprisingly drivable without the latter, and has a great "manual" feel. At anything above parking lot speeds, it's a pleasure.
Seams are separating on the seats but the leather remains good. The headliner is worn and has damage above the driver's seat. (It is not sagging however, it has been adhered in place). There is fine checking on the paint in various places (front fender tops in particular).
I've owned a couple of XJS's - this is one has the most integrity I've seen. It's a true survivor and a great driver. Not a show car nor would it be worth the investment to make it one - a wonderful original with desert patina.
