Though it is not mention by the seller I'm suspect this car is a Hess & Eisenhardt conversion to convertible from coupe.

Seller's description:
Up for Sale inherited Jaguar XJS 1987 V12 Convertible Black with tan interior give this car beautiful color combo. The car appears to be free of accidents.Engine turns freely, was sitting for 3 years! Was a good runner. The whole car will benefit from shampoo job and some polishing. It will come out really nice! No time or space for it so it must find a new home. Convertible tan top looks as new! This is all I know about the car! Clean title!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
