48,862 MILES, ON EBAY 05/07, SELLER WRITES:
If you are searching for a mid-eighties Jaguar XJ-S that is not a piece of garbage, your search is over. This Jag will knock your socks off. Let’s start off by discussing the good points: This is a 48,000 mile Florida car, solid as a rock. This Jag was sold new from Alpine Motors in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and I have the paperwork to verify it. I purchased it from a doctor here in the Detroit area that specialized in prosthetic devices for people missing limbs. His uncle, who was also a doctor, bought the car new in 1986 when he retired to Florida. In 2001 he was no longer able to drive so he sold it to his nephew here in Michigan. When the uncle bought the car new in Florida, he had the dealer install the Dayton real wire wheels and deep tint the side and rear windows to help keep out the Florida heat. The window tinting is still on the car. The underneath of the car is in great shape and in one of the pictures I scrapped off some of the undercoating or sound deadening to show the white paint is still underneath. Both former owners and myself have properly maintained this Jag. All parts came from the Jag dealer and not the local AutoZone where the parts are junk. Within the last few years the car has received new rear brake calipers, brake pads front and rear, new master cylinder, brake system bleed, four new Michelin tires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and PCV valve. All tune-up parts were ordered from Jaguar of Troy here in Michigan including the $53.00 PCV valve. Some people will describe an interior as “Perfect” except for a few rips and split seams. Well, in my humble opinion “Perfect” means just that, NO FLAWS. The interior on this car is not perfect simply because it is in a 1986 car, but is about as good as it gets for a car of this vintage. NO rips, NO split seams, NO cigarette burns. The leather has always been cleaned and conditioned with Lexol products and is soft, supple and smells great inside. The dash pad has NO cracks. All former owners and myself were non-smokers. The ashtrays and cigarette lighter have NEVER been used and are spotless. The inside of the trunk is excellent and still has the spare tire cover, tool kit, and battery cover. The car drives down the road straight with no shakes, shimmies, or pull. The car stops fantastic with all the new brake parts, no rotor pulsation, smooth as silk. I get many compliments where ever I take this car. I definitely know that the Dayton wire wheels are a big plus and make this car look like a cousin to an older Aston Martin or Lamborghini. To sum up, this car has always been maintained by owners who gave it what ever it needed with quality parts from the dealership and didn’t mind paying a few extra bucks for added quality. It is a Florida car with the real Dayton wire wheels finished in a striking color combination of white with tan interior. The car is showing 48,000 miles and the interior condition and engine compartment should be proof of that. Now some not so good points: The turn signals work intermittently The car is very cold blooded. Does not like to idle properly when stone cold. After several minutes, will idle nicely. Was told maybe a auxiliary air valve, very typical for these cars and not horrible to install, easier than changing the spark plugs Reverse lights were stuck on last summer and I removed the bulbs. A new reverse light switch in the shifter console should solve it. A $37.00 part. I am selling this car due to re-location from here in suburban Detroit to suburban Dallas. I need to sell a few cars in my collection as I don’t have as much room at the new home. You would have to look long and hard to find another mid-eighties XJ-S in this condition as most have been ridden hard, put away wet, not properly maintained, and are in need of several thousand dollars in repairs to make them road worthy again. If you have any questions on the car, either email me at jkastelan@ttsamerica.com or call me at 586-822-7223. A deposit of $500 will be due within 3 days of auction end payable by PayPal, Cash, Cashiers Check, Wire Transfer, or Money Order. Balance of payment is due within 10 days of auction end payable by Cash, Cashiers Check, Wire Transfer, or Money Order. Vehicle must be picked up within 15 days of auction end. Transportation of vehicle is buyer’s responsibility. Vehicle is sold “AS IS” with no guarantees expressed or implied.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
