As you look over this coupe you'll discover it's sleek and sporty on the outside, absolutely luxurious with leather and A/C on the inside, and now this also has fuel-injected Chevy LS1 V8 power. So this 1985 Jaguar XJS is a terrific total package that's being offered for an irresistible price.
The first impression this one shows off is its classic elegance. After all, the long hood, low-slung body, and flying buttress rear are part of the classic European grand touring experience. The bodywork looks nice, and everything is well-respected, right down to the classic Jaguar medallion on the hood. The black paint is an older respray that today retains a nice gloss while being overall driver-quality, and a driver-ready kind of feeling is what this upgraded Jag should inspire.
The XJS was built to be a pure grand touring machine, and so there's plenty of room to get comfortable in the front bucket seats. And comfort is a true focus of this coupe because there was a recent investment in new leather. It makes areas like the upholstery and center console feel supple and exceptionally inviting. There are good luxury features like power windows, power steering, an electric rear defogger, an upgraded AM/FM/XM stereo with Bluetooth, and cold-blowing air conditioning. And while there's a big upgrade under the hood, we love how this one has reminded a very stock and correct Jaguar inside for a proper European sports car feeling. You get the classic dual-spoke steering wheel, wood and chrome shifter, and a full set of crisp Smiths readouts.
It will be fun to tilt the hood forward and show off the American heart in this very British classic. There has been a longstanding tradition of dropping Chevy V8s in Jags, but this one takes it up a notch. After all, you may see some with an older small block motor, but this has a modern 5.7-liter LS1 fuel-injected V8. So you not only upgraded the durability, but you also get a smoothness and power that upholds the luxurious Jaguar feeling. GM's four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive was also added. It makes for an all-around appealing driver because all the best parts of the Jaguar are still intact. That means a European-tuned fully-independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.
The sale comes with the owner's manual packet, maintenance records, and recent build receipts. This coupe is the ideal blend of a hardy heart and precision legs.
