Seller’s Description:
1992 Jaguar XJS V12 convertible. Perhaps the lowest mileage XJS V12 available for sale in the United States with just 21,144 miles on the clock. As far as I am aware, I am the second owner of this car which has largely only been driven on special occasions. Not only is the car very low mileage, but it has also been consistently maintained with copies of all service records available from the time I've owned it. During the last eight years, I have replaced the leaking gas tank with a fully refurbished and lined unit (a very difficult to find part), replaced the fuel pump, replaced the tires, suspension and inboard brakes, replaced a failing window motor (another difficult to find part), and last year had all of the hoses and belts inspected - replacing what little was worn - and changed the thermostats. A box of spare parts including multiple hoses, belts, a water pump, and the old windows motor will be included with the sale.

The rare and desirable Oyster Metallic paint is still deeply vibrant and highly reflective with very few ships or scratches and only one major area of damage - on the passenger-side rear quarter panel. The interior is also nicely preserved, though there are some stains and scuffs on the leather upholstery and the carpeting in the driver's-side foot well is worn. With the exception of the wood in the center console, the wood veneers are still in excellent condition with a high degree of polish. There are no signs of cracking or other wear. The electric seats are still operable as is all lighting. The radio no longer works; however, the trip computer does! The convertible roof operates smoothly, without jerkiness or hesitation. But, the original cloth top has is torn and will need to be replaced.

The car starts without hesitation and has smooth power delivery. Last year the car completed a 2,000 mile road trip through multiple types of terrain and roadway, from congested freeways to isolated country roads, without any hint of a problem. The car turned heads everywhere it went. Multiple times other drivers would keep pace alongside me to admire it.

This is a beautiful car with stunning looks. Very few cars have this mix of elegance and performance. With it's low mileage, excellent maintenance history, and overall good cosmetic condition, this car is the perfect way to own a classic Jaguar.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
