Ebay item 4/11/21
www.ebay.com/itm/1994-Jaguar-XJS-Base/203343175361
Current bid: $2,605.55 no reserve 31 bids 6 days left in auction, seller jacktur3, 123k miles.

Seller's description:
I purchased this beautiful Jag 6 years ago in Somerset NJ. I lived in NJ at the time, but now I am located in Easton CT. This car was in decent condition when I purchased but the paint was faded and needed some minor cosmetic work. It has been a "rolling restoration" of mine since purchase. It had about 107,000 miles on it when I purchased and now has just over 123,000. Many of those miles occurred when I drove this car to South Dakota back in August 2016... It performed flawlessly...the 6 Cyl Jags from his era are highly reliable and far less temperamental than the V12s. I am still driving it as the weather has been nice, so mileage could increase prior to sale....I will update the listing as necessary

Here's my best recollection of what I've done to this car over the years. Much of this work was done by Paul Maletsky (excellent classic Jag Specialist in Caldwell NJ):

Body exterior repainted in original Morocco Red Pearl ($7000 paint job done by shop in Berkeley heights NJ)
New floor board installed on Driver side installed (original had been damaged by improper jack use by past owner)
Basic tune up (i.e. dist cap/rotor, wires, spark plugs changed within past 1000 miles)
Oil changed twice per year (Synthetic 15W/50 summer, 5W/40 Winter)
New Interstate battery installed last year
4 new tires installed 2 years ago and have less than 3000 miles on them
New rear shock absorbers and springs installed (at about 110,000 miles)
New Ignition coil installed in summer 2020
New crank trigger installed summer 2020
Brake fluid flush, trans fluid flush, coolant flush and rear differential oil changed at about 112,000 miles
Front wheel bearings replaced
New Exhaust header downpipe replaced 3 years ago

The car runs perfectly and gets many compliments every time I take it out.
It lives in my heated garage in Connecticut and not driven in snow or rain under my ownership (except when I drove to SD and got caught in a few showers on the way home)

Item of note: the interior color combination (tan leather with maroon burgundy carpet) is quite rare...you won't see many, if any with this. Convertible top is in great condition - was replaced by previous owner.

What it needs:
Some interior cosmetic work - driver seat shows some wear (as it's original) and small tear in leather where convertible top has chafed it, (which was known to happen in these cars) and rear interior light in back seat area needs replacement.
Carpets on driver and passenger side floor

May need auto trans control unit soon - Sometimes the "check transmission" light comes on, and requires reboot by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting... it has happened a couple times, which is a minor annoyance. (These units are easy to find cheap on ebay and simple to install - plug & play).

AC compressor - all components of AC system replaced 3 years ago (and converted to R134a), but the compressor is original and failed last summer. (I usually drive with top down and therefore AC has been largely irrelevant)

Hi, I'm wondering what criteria earns a vehicle the dubious designation of "scruffy driver."

I was looking at the !994 XJS on ebay, VIN SAJNX2741RC190488

Car returns to ebay 5/31/21

www.ebay.com/itm/274816911382

Car has a buy it now price of $7,995 for 29 days, seller sjburg, 123k miles, car now said to be in Bennington, Vermont, previously Easton, Connecticut.

Seller's description:

Gorgeous 1994 Jaguar XJS 2+2 convertible, in Moroccan Red Pearl with tan leather. This XJS has the coveted 4.0L Straight 6, known widely as the most reliable and low maintenance of all the XJS models produced during its 30 year run.

By all appearances, this Jaguar has been well cared for and runs and drives beautifully. The engine purrs, the car handles and brakes perfectly, and the transmission shifts smoothly and silently. The vehicle recently received a $7000 factory paint job, which overall is in excellent shape with only a couple of very minor defects (see pics). The convertible top is in great shape both functionally and cosmetically. The interior shows some wear (as expected in a driven car this age) but is overall in good shape, with the exception of some staining to the trunk carpet, wear to the driver's seat and distress to the back of the driver's side rear seat due to rubbing from the convertible top. All four tires were recently replaced (about 3k miles on new tires).

Just about everything on this Jaguar works as it should, with the exception of the seat heaters, the rear passenger side light, and the air conditioner. All components of the AC system were recently replaced and converted to R134a, with the exception of the compressor, which needs to be replaced. A new compressor for this vehicle can be bought for $225. Other recent service includes new rear shock absorbers/springs, new ignition coil, new crank trigger, new front wheel bearings and a new exhaust header downpipe. In addition to regular oil changes, all other fluids were flushed and changed about 10k miles ago.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
