Car to be at auction 7/2013

Auction description:
1996 Jaguar XJS Convertible
Newport Beach 2013
Consignment # 4048
VIN: SAJNX2741TC226090
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale June 20th-22nd at Russo and Steele's inaugural Newport Beach, California Auction.
Offered by the original owner, this 1996 Jaguar XJS Final Edition Celebration Series Convertible is a mint example and very rare today. The owner drove it to their underground parking structure at work for two years and then retired it to their indoor collection. It has never been detailed, buffed, or driven with the top down. All wood was removed when the car was brand new and it has been re-veneered by Bill Rau, including the instrument cluster, at a cost of $6,000. The paint is 100% original, and the car has never been out of California. Offered in absolute mint condition and collector-owned by one fastidious caretaker from new, it marks a wonderful opportunity for Jaguar aficionados.

1996 jaguar XJS convertible. Original owner. Always garaged day and night. When the car was brand new, I had all of the wood removed by the Jaguar dealer and I sent it out to Bill Rau, at that time e most well-known wood restoration expert. He did all of the work for Rolls-Royce Beverly Hills, and also restoration work for people around the world. I selected my own veneers, and he also built a custom airbag steering wheel based on the original wheel. Even the silkscreened emblems “unleaded fuel only” and “SRS” were done. The instrument cluster wood around the gauges was also done with new veneer. A very painstaking process.
It has never been detailed or buffed. I have only hand waxed the car every other year with carnauba wax myself. The top has rarely been put down leaving the interior in excellent condition. The top also does not have those typical wrinkles or lines that wear into the fabric when the top is run up and down constantly.
The interior has never been shampooed or detailed. Just vacuumed. Always protected. All of the wood in the car appears exactly as it did when it was put in. No sun exposure. I have every service record on the car, including all of the original purchase paperwork from day one. I just changed the oil and bought four brand new Michelin tires just due to time.
If you are just looking for any XJS, there are plenty of them out there. If you are looking for an incredibly preserved and loved example that has been stored inside a private collection in California, feel free to contact me with additional questions. The paint is all original and even the Undercarriage is immaculate. All systems operate as they should. The vehicle was purchased new in California and has always been in California.
