Auction type Reserve
Two-owner, original, and well-maintained Southwest car. The seller purchased it in 2005 with an odometer reading of 64,000 miles and has driven the car sparingly since. The car looks to be particularly striking with its Oyster Metallic exterior and Dark Brown top, per the provided photographs, with the exterior appearing to gleam like an almost new car, and the Doeskin leather interior showing only slight wear on the driver’s seat.
This Jaguar still wears all of its original Oyster Metallic paint, and that the car remains “rust-free.” He indicates some “minor blemishes,” which can be seen in some photos. The added chrome wheelwell and bumper trim, which may have been aftermarket or dealer-added, appear to be in very good condition. The Dark Brown convertible top is said to operate properly and to not leak. All glass and seals are described as “very good,” with no leaks from the seals. All lighting is affirmed to work.
The cabin is described as “all-original.” The 1994 model was the first XJS with dual front airbags. Aside from some wear on the driver’s-seat outer bolster and what appear to be a few minor scuffs on the driver’s-door armrest seam, photos seemingly show this Jaguar’s interior being in excellent condition throughout. The close-up photos appear to reveal a clean carpet and headliner, with no obvious wear. All of Jaguar’s famous burled walnut trim is said to be intact, and in photos it appears to be in very good condition. The seller reports no other wear issues. All power seat adjustments are affirmed to operate as intended, and both heat and air conditioning are also confirmed to be working properly. The photo of the trunk suggests it may have hardly been used. The convertible top is described as in “good” condition and it comes with a tan leather tonneau/boot cover that is seen in photos. All gauges are affirmed to work accurately. The audio system is believed original and described as “sounding great.” Power windows, door locks, and top are affirmed to be in proper working order.
Very clean underside for this Jaguar, with just some expected road patina, but no rust. The consigning seller reports no mechanical needs, and no leaks, for the suspension, power steering and brakes. The steering is said to “point straight” and have no alignment or vibration issues. Jaguar’s renowned independent rear suspension using two coil-over units per side was credited with the car’s impressive agility and smooth ride. Of note, Jaguar had replaced the inboard rear disc brakes with conventionally mounted outboard brakes starting with the 1992 model, reducing servicing complexity and cost. Bushings and shocks are described in good condition. The wheels are Jaguar, not aftermarket, and show no signs of road rash or curbing. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are said to be in good condition, though age and mileage were not given.
