1978 JAGUAR XJS CHEVY 350 CONVERSION (CARBURETED 4 BARREL). CAR HAS 94,7XX MILES, WHILE ENGINE HAS LESS THAN 10K ON IT. FRESH OIL CHANGE. THE CONVERSION WAS DONE IN THE LATE EIGHTIES BUT WAS NOT DRIVEN VERY MUCH AT ALL. IT WAS BASICALLY ONLY DRIVEN EVERY TWO YEARS FOR SMOG CHECKS. CAR PASSED ITS MOST RECENT CALIFORNIA SMOG TEST ON 04/01/2014. IT RUNS VERY WELL AND DRIVES AND SHIFTS SMOOTH. HAS THE ORIGINAL T400 TRANSMISSION. IT IS EQUPPED WITH POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, AND ANTENNA. IT WAS REPAINTED ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND THE PAINT IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE NO DENTS ON THE BODY THAT I CAN FIND. BODY IS STRAIGHT. ALWAYS GARAGED AND HAS NEVER SEEN RAIN WHILE IN OUR POSSESION. THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST 1978'S I'VE SEEN AND IT TURNS HEADS. DOES NEED A LITTLE TLC, BUT NOT MUCH. THIS CAR WAS GIVEN TO ME BY MY UNCLE WHO PASSED AWAY, SO I MAY NOT HAVE THE ANSWER TO EVERY QUESTION ASKED.

CONS:
-TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY SLOW DRIP LEAK. A FEW DROPS PER MONTH.

-DRIVERS SIDE OUTSIDE DOOR LOCK HOLE IS NOT ACCEPTING THE KEY. JAMMED? LOCKS FROM THE INSIDE FINE.

-WIPERS ARE NOT WORKING. POSSIBLY FUSE OR MOTOR?

-BATTERY NEEDS TIE DOWN

-DRIVER SIDE OUTSIDE PILLAR ALUMINUM TRIM NOT PROPERLY SEATED(SEE PIC)

-A/C NOT BLOWING COLD.

- PARKING BRAKE CABLE IS A BIT LOOSE WHICH TRIGGERS THE BRAKE DASH LIGHT.

Here's a very nice 1978 XJS Chevy Conversion. I've owned several of these and this is by far the nicest. I think the photos speak for themselves and to me the car looks nicer in person. This was an estate sale car. I have a ton of receipts on the car. According to the relatives, this car has only about 10k miles after the conversion and was driven very little the past ten years. This Jag did, however, pass California emissions every year! It runs very nice. Brakes work great. The previous owner installed a new (not rebuilt) Chevy crate 350 engine and kept it stock. He did add a shift kit to the auto trans to increase its longevity and a high volume water pump to keep the engine running cool. Unlike like other jag conversions, the speedometer works, the heat and air (r134a conversion) work! Even the analog clock works. This Jag was never driven in the rain, as a matter of fact the wipers don't work. I don't know if they are disconnected or need service. I sometimes get a bulb warning light on the dash, but all the bulbs are fine, so I think the switch needs cleaning. No other warning lights are on. I had the carb rebuilt with a new brass float and ethanol resistant accelerator pump. Yes, the climate control works on the car. The paint work is about 10 years old, but the car was always garaged so it looks super sharp. Rubber has good tread. Comes with spare, tool kit and trickle charger for the battery since the car was stored most of the time. There is about 95k on the body, but only an estimated 10k on the engine. I removed the sheepskin seat covers (very popular in the 70's and 80's) to reveal almost perfect front seats. No cracks in the dash and no sags in the headliner. Like I said, I don't know if you'll run across a better 78 XJS with the very desirable Chevy 350 conversion. Comes with a California Pink sheet, receipts and service manuals.
