This is a pre-HE car with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection. The OPUS ignition system has been replaced with a vastly improved electronics package while retaining the original OPUS pickup sensor.

This car is in excellent condition, has done 122,000km, and is driven regularly. The belt driven fan has been replaced with a 16 inch electric fan, driven by a separate alternator mounted where the AC compressor idler pulley used to be. EGO sensors have been fitted to each downpipe, and a bar-graph display in the RH ash tray allows monitoring of the fuel mixture in both halves of the engine. The OPUS ignition electronics have been replaced with a circuit of my own design, and an alarm system has been interfaced to the door locks to allow remote key-less entry. After market cruise control has also been fitted.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
