Ebay item 12/5/17
www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Jaguar-XJS-Convertable/202136223360
Car has a buy it now price of $31,700 for 6 days, seller jjt0001, 48k miles.
Sellers description:
BMW had its Motorsport division. Mercedes had AMG. It stood to reason, then, that Jaguar should have its own performance division if it was to compete with the European powerhouses. In 1988, that division was launched under the name Jaguar Sport, a 50/50 joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw's TWR Group Limited, with the mission of developing and producing a range of modified Jaguars for the British and European markets. The signature product was this car, the Jaguar XJR-S. While available in the U.K. and Europe from 1988 to 1993, they were only sold here in the US the final year of production. Jaguar furnished not only 50 coupes, but also 50 convertibles which were never offered in the European or U.K. markets. Price tag was $73,000 for the coupe, $80,000 for the convertible. All 100 cars were either red or black, with a sterling silver numbered plaque made by Asprey on the dash.
While they may have had the appearance of a standard Jaguar XJS, nearly every mechanical part was unique, based around a 6.0-liter version of Jaguar's V-12, an engine which was not available in any other production Jaguar. Each car left the factory as a hand-built unit from Jaguar Sport's manufacturing facility at Bloxham, which would be unheard of had it not also been the place where Jaguar Sport built the world's fastest-at the time-production automobile, the XJ220.
Externally, the cars were modified with an aggressive body kit. A host of modifications inside included a Connolly leather interior with contrasting stitching and walnut sapwood details. The 1993 Jaguar XJR -S engine, which was rated at 318hp, was now a 6.0 liter V-12, 700cc larger than the previous 5.3-liter V-12. Compression was bumped to 11.0:1, and the engine was modified with a forged-steel crankshaft with a 78.5mm stroke and forged alloy pistons with larger combustion recessed area. The Zytec engine management system was unique to the XJR-S. A modified intake system and a low-loss true dual exhaust system was also part of the car's advanced spec. Behind the engine, XJR-S models featured a GM400 transmission with a recalibrated valve body with significantly higher shift speeds and a rear accumulator spring designed to take full advantage of the XJR-S power and torque increase. The suspension also received a full working over at TWR. Coil spring rates increased and Bilstein shocks front and rear were specially tuned for the XJR-S with ventilated discs, four-piston brake calipers and larger wheels as well.
This Jaguar is US rated at 160mph, making it one of the world's most powerful cars in its day.

This 1993 Jaguar XJR-S is #94 of 100 built by JaguarSport for the US market, 50 of which were convertibles. JaguarSport was a joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing, and each XJR-S was hand-built with a TWR-modified 6.0-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. This example is finished in Signal Red with a tan soft top over Cream leather, and equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo, fog lights, 16″ Speedline wheels, and power-adjustable and heated seats. The car spent time in California, Oregon, and Arizona and was previously listed on BaT in 2018 before its acquisition by the selling dealer, and service performed in 2019 included installing four tires, a cooling system service, and replacement of the idle air valve and both door seals. This XJR-S now shows under 49k miles and is offered by the selling dealer in New York with manufacturer’s literature, accessories, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Arizona title.
The car is one of 22 examples finished in Signal Red (CFC) and features a tan soft top and an XJR-S-specific aero kit including a raised rear spoiler, rocker trim, and color-keyed bumper covers with black impact pads, and additional equipment includes headlight washers, tinted tail lights, fog lights, and black and chrome trim. The seller states that both exterior door seals were replaced in August 2019, a scrape is visible on the underside of the front air dam, and that a chip is present on the hood.
Silver-finished 16″ wheels produced by Speedline wear BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires, which measure 225/50 up front and 245/50 out back and were mounted during current ownership. The front shock bushings were also reportedly replaced by the selling dealer, and the XJR-S features an upgraded suspension utilizing specially-tuned Bilstein shocks and TWR springs.
The cabin features power-adjustable and heated seats trimmed in Cream leather with darker carpets and wood accents on the dashboard, center console, and doors. Features include cruise control, an onboard computer, a factory cassette stereo, and power windows, seats, and locks, and an automatic climate control system with air conditioning that was serviced in 2020.
A silver placard from the jeweler Asprey is affixed to the center console and denotes this example as #94 produced for the 1993 model year.
Instrumentation carries the JaguarSport logo and includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and a quartet of auxiliary gauges. Under 49k miles are shown on the six-digit odometer, fewer than 1k of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 6.0-liter V12 was hand-built by JaguarSport with a modified crankshaft, forged pistons, and a Zytek engine management system among other changes from the standard version. Power was rated at 318 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new, and service completed in August 2019 included replacing the idle air valve, completing a cooling service, and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a General Motors-sourced three-speed automatic transmission which was modified with a recalibrated valve body by JaguarSport for faster shift times. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale, along with tools, a jack, recent service records, a technical service manual, three keys, a top boot, and a custom car cover.
