Ebay item 6/20/16
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJS-Convertible-/272279635046
Current bid US $4,050, no reserve, 11 bids 6 days left in auction. Seller bigguy1990, 28k miles.
Sellers description:
It took me years to find a prime, ultra low-mileage example of the classic V12 XJS. After acquiring this particular car, I followed the tradition of the previous owners and spent substantial amounts of time and money to ensure this car was kept in top shape technically as well as cosmetically. In order to provide more background on the vehicle, I have put together the information that I have from my current ownership and its two previous owners.
This XJS was sold new by Wilde Jaguar of Greenfield, WI in August of 1988. The first owner of this highly optioned sports car was Edward B. Saltz, a successful entrepreneur and business man. Further, Mr. Saltz was also an inventor who had several patents to his name ranging back to the 1950s. As retirement neared, Mr. and Ms. Saltz moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where their son was living. Mr. Saltz enjoyed the XJS until he passed away in 1993, putting less than 10,000 miles on the car during those years. It stayed in the family until 2009 when a new Arizona owner began to care for it.
According to the Carfax and former owner, the car seems to be accident-free for its entire life. All the body panels still boast the original ID stickers and no replacements body parts or bodywork are discernible. There are only a couple of very minor flaws that are barely visible to the untrained eye. The only one I could see is a small ding on front left fender. All the glass is original and in excellent condition. Between 2009 and 2016, the new owners added less than 10,000 miles to the odometer, which stands now at a verifiable (through Carfax records and repair receipts) 28,900 miles.
Mechanically, this car is in excellent condition. The V12 starts up on the first crank and runs strongly and evenly through all rev ranges. The transmission shifts smoothly and without hesitation.
Over the last four years, more than $7,000 were spent on maintenance, mechanical upgrades, tires, and repairs, ensuring the performance and reliability of this XJS. The water pump and most hoses were replaced within the last two years. The A/C compressor was replaced last year, and the A/C blows ice cold from all vents. The brakes are new. The four Pirellis have less than 5,000 miles on them and should give the new owner many more miles of service.
The lumbar support still inflates properly. The softtop mechanics operate smoothly and the softtop appears like new. The mirror shine of the chromed Jaguar wheels belies their age and are without any curb rash or scratches.
As you would expect with an ultra-low mileage car, the interior is in extraordinary shape. The leather and wood exhibit only the most minute flaws. The period correct high-end built-in radar detector still works great and indicates any speed trap ahead of it. The original Jaguar stereo with cassette deck works beautifully and some easy listening audio tape cassettes will come with the vehicle.
All original factory manuals, maintenance booklets with original sleeve, and a binder with all available maintenance and repair records come with the car.
This is truly an excellent, high-quality collector vehicle and a rare one at that. With only 3,175 built in 1988, it is a unique car and you probably will not encounter another one like it.
The car has a clear and clean Arizona title with "A" box mileage. No liens.
