Car to be at auction 6/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/526067
Auction description:
1990 Jaguar XJS 3.6
Estimate: £8,000-10,000
Attractive 3.6 automatic coupe wearing a gloriously 80's bodykit in two-tone showing just 71,233 miles
Supplied new by Marshall Jaguar of Cambridge in April 1990, this striking example boasts the more frugal, proven 225bhp 3.6-litre straight-six engine mated here to 4-speed automatic transmission. Finished in two-tone black and grey with discreet red and grey coachlines the car wears an 'oh-so period' factory bodykit.
Showing just four owners from new, the car has been in our titled Lady's hands for the last couple of years covering less than 2,000 miles in this time. In fact, looking at the MOT history, the car looks to have seen limited usage over the past 15 years covering only c.3,000 miles since 2006.
The car presents well, with only few signs of age with limited evidence of minor corrosion (as pictured) around the bottom of a couple wheel arches with the interior also presenting well with attractive cream leather interior piped grey with light walnut trim, optional trip computer, electric adjustable lumbar, heated seats and the original Jaguar radio cassette remaining in situ. The XJS shows just 27,931 miles, however a documented speedo change at 43,529 miles in August 1995 stamped in the service book by Marshall Jaguar of Kensington reveals the car to have covered c.71,466 miles in total.
Within the history file, we find the V5C and service book showing an impressive 13 stamps, the last at 21,808 miles in February 1999 with a further two stamps including aforementioned speedo change and supplying delaer stamp - all stamps are by Marshall Jaguar (12) and Evans Halshaw Jaguar (3) and 1 old MOT.
Most recently,in May 2021 the car was treated to a rear brake overhaul with new callipers, discs and pads fitted and the fronts stripped, cleaned and new pads installed along with fresh brake fluid. A new headlining has also recently been fitted in the original material and colour but with a more modern fibreglass backing board and glue so shouldnt sag ever again. The current MOT runs until May 2022 with no advisories recorded.
Starting promptly as we moved it around for these shots the car sounded as it should and looks very much the part, we like it alot.
