This particular example is especially appealing on account of its remarkably low indicated mileage of just 20,464 miles at the time of cataloguing supported by an extensive and reassuring history file. Included are numerous MOT Certificates, the original book pack with owners handbook, and a service book showing a number of early stamps. In addition, the file contains a detailed handwritten log, understood to have been compiled by a former keeper, documenting servicing, MOTs and maintenance over time. Many of these entries reference work carried out by Grange Jaguar of Exeter, further supporting the car’s careful upkeep and the low indicated mileage.
An interesting and rather charming addition to the history accompanies the car in the form of detailed notes compiled by a previous owner following attendance at a Jaguar model and marque seminar in 2013. These notes cover recommended servicing practices, lubricants and general maintenance guidance, and offer a fascinating period insight that may prove useful to the next custodian.
The car is believed to be finished in Topaz Metallic, a colour that suits the XJS particularly well and enhances its elegant, understated lines. Overall presentation is in keeping with the low mileage and the evident care shown throughout its life.
A late, limited-run Celebration model with very low indicated mileage and a well-documented history, this XJS represents an increasingly collectible modern classic.
