This 1988 Jaguar XJ-SC was first sold by British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco, California and has remained in the state through its acquisition by the seller in 2011. This targa-style cabriolet is finished in Jet Black over Magnolia leather, and power comes from a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Recent service is said to have included new rear brake calipers in February 2019. This Jaguar is now being offered at no reserve with records, factory books and manuals, the original window sticker, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Factory 15″ wheels wear a chrome finish and are equipped with Yokohama Avid Touring S tires that display 2012, 2017, and 2018 date codes. Updates by the seller are said to include Bilstein struts and shocks, along with the replacement of the steering rack.
The cabin is trimmed in Magnolia leather upholstery with tan carpeting and elm burl wood trim on the dash, console, and doors. A factory cassette player is mounted ahead of the shifter, and additional amenities include air conditioning and power seats. The cruise control and seat heaters are noted to be inoperable.
Records indicate that the speedometer assembly was replaced in 1990 at 19k miles. The car now now shows approximately 52k miles, with true mileage unknown.
The 5.3-liter HE V12 features high-turbulence combustion chambers and Lucas CEI injection for a factory-rated output of 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque in the US market. Shifting is through a 3-speed automatic transmission. The service history file is reported to date back to 1990, and new rear brake calipers were installed within the past 500 miles.
The original window sticker shows a total price of $51,260 and details factory options and specifications.
The Carfax report lists no accidents or other damage and displays registration history in California from 1990 on. The report indicates a mileage inconsistency in 1990 following the speedometer installation, as well as a potential odometer rollback in 2008.
