Ebay item 3/26/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XJS-/300540814499
Current bid $1,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Genuine TWR version, with engine, body, suspension, brake, wheels, and interior modifications done in the shop of the winner of many races and the European championship driving an XJS. The only reason I am selling it is a complete lack of space due to a recent move to my retirement home.

Specific modifications include 4 pot AP racing calipers, vented rear discs, TWR intake components, TWR springs, TWR oversize wheels. Engine mods allow the car to exceed 150mph. Transmission mods allow the engine to rev higher. The engine will break loose even the oversized tires. Tires are almost new, high performance Fuzions. It also has TWR steering wheel. The car is lowered compared to a stock XJS. New hood struts have been fitted.

There is no rust on the car. It has not been ever driven in bad weather or in the winter.

Due to the high efficiency cylinder heads, this car will get 24 mpg on the highway. It is extremely quiet and smooth, and can be driven 12 hours a day with no fatigue at all. The suspension is not harsh, but absolutely hugs the road, even at top speed. There is no lightness or float at any speed due to the excellent aerodynamics and suspension.

The paint is chipped on the hood (see photo). The interior is showing its age, but there is no torn stitching. The engine is excellent. It runs cool, and I just installed new wires and plugs. The old plugs were all a beautiful tan colour after 50,000 miles of operation. The main fan has been replaced with an electric unit, and there is a new auxiliary pancake fan. This gives much better access to the front of the engine. Cooling system filters are installed. The A/C has been retrofitted to R134 and blows very cold. IRS completely rebuilt 10 years ago. Six disc Kenwood CD player in trunk.

The car starts instantly under any conditions, even after not running over the winter.

I don't drive the car in the winter, and the A/C has always needed a new charge at the beginning of each summer. The ultimate Grand Touring car. Comes with JDHT heritage certificate from Coventry. When new, this car cost $140,000. The reserve is less than 10% of this price. What a bargain!

I have had the car for 11 years and drove it 100,000 kilometres and it has been one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. The car runs and drives just fine now, but the 3rd gear clutch is slipping when hot. The Tranny is a GM TH400, so the repairs should not be too costly. I reduced the asking price accordingly.

Sellers description:
In the 70s and 80s Tom Walkinshaw raced XJS jaguars in Europe and Australia. In 1985 he won the European Championship. He then went on to a succesful Formula 1 career as Engineering Director for Michael Schumacher. This 1985 Jaguar XJS was modified when new in Tom's racing shop to have many of the performance and safety features of his racing cars. It has the ground effects kit, suspension mods, uprated brakes, engine mods, etc. But it retains the excellent comfort and wonderful ride that Jaguars are legendary for. And it is a very reliable car. It feels like driving a track car, but you can do it for 12 hours straight and not have a single ache.

This is a genuine TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) modified XJS, not just a body kit. It has engine, brake, transmission and suspension mods, including 4 pot AP racing calipers, vented rear discs, TWR intake components, TWR springs, TWR oversize wheels. Engine mods allow the car to exceed 150mph. Transmission mods allow the engine to rev higher. The engine will break loose even the oversized tires. Tires are almost new, high performance Fuzions. It also has TWR steering wheel. The car is lowered compared to a stock XJS.

The car is in excellent condition with no rust. New hood struts. The engine is excellent. It runs cool, and I just installed new wires and plugs. The old plugs were all a beautiful tan colour. The main fan has been replaced with an electric unit, and there is a new auxiliary pancake fan. This gives much better access to the front of the engine. Cooling system filters are installed. The A/C has been retrofitted to R134 and blows very cold (needs re-charging - no need for A/C here in BC). IRS completely rebuilt 10 years ago. Six disc Kenwood CD player in trunk. Cruise control works, but it needs a new bellows.

The car shows it's age honourably with some frayed stitching and door paint nicks. But it is still a car that gets comments for it's beauty and grace wherever I drive it. I have owned the car for 14 years and it has been the most reliable car I ever drove.

New, this was a $140,000 car - in 1985!

The transmission has just been rebuilt and has a 1 year transferable warranty. The V-12 engine runs strong, burns no oil and is smooth. The car passed the stringent BC safety inspection recently.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
