This 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC V12 is finished in Nimbus White over Isis Blue and features a multi-piece removable roof. The car was purchased new by the current owner’s brother-in-law in Illinois and was acquired by the current owner in 1998. A 5.3-liter V12 sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional equipment includes power windows, automatic climate control, an integrated radar detector, and a trunk-mounted CD changer. The seller notes that the car starts, runs, and drives but has been driven very little over the past five years and should be inspected and serviced before extensive road use. This XJ-SC now shows 61k miles and is offered at no reserve on behalf of the current owner with roof panels, soft and hard rear tops, a top boot, tools, spare parts, manufacturer’s literature, a service manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title. 100% of the proceeds from this auction, along with the BaT buyer’s fee, will be donated to Temple Emanu-El, a synagogue located in San Jose, California.
The car is finished in Nimbus White (NDJ) and features pinstriping along the sides. The removable roof is comprised of dual panels up top, while aft of the roll bar a folding fabric panel or the optional hardtop can be fitted. The latter is equipped with a heated glass window, and a boot cover is also included for when the folding top is retracted. The seller states the Stayfast fabric panels show fading. A dent is also present in the leading edge of the passenger-side rear fender arch.
Chrome 16″ two-piece wheels wear Jaguar center caps and are wrapped in 225/55 Bridgestone Turanza tires all around. The seller notes curb rash is visible on the right-rear wheel. Aftermarket molding on the passenger fender is damaged, though replacement molding pieces are included. A set of polyurethane steering rack mounts are also included in the sale.
The cabin is upholstered in Isis Blue leather and features matching door panels, charcoal carpeting, and wood dash trim. Equipment includes electric windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, a cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer, and a controller for the integrated K40 radar detector, which is mounted underneath the steering column. Wear can be seen on both seats, including a split seam on the driver’s lower cushion, and the seller notes the headliner on the rear hard top is in need of replacement.
Instrumentation is framed by a wood-rimmed MOMO steering wheel and consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and vertical gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 61k miles, approximately 40k of which were added by the second owner. The seller notes the turn signals work intermittently.
The 5.3-liter HE V12 is equipped with electronic fuel injection and was rated for 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque when new, which is sent to the rear wheels through the GM-sourced three-speed automatic transmission. The seller believes the air conditioning system was converted to use R134a refrigerant and notes the car has been driven sparingly within the past five years, though it does start, run, and drive and videos of the engine starting and the car driving have been provided.
Manufacturer’s literature, manuals for the CD changer and radar detector, a service manual, and tools are included in the sale.
The December 2019 Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Illinois, Florida, and California.
The current owner will donate all proceeds from this auction to Temple Emanu-El to support their “20/20 Vision Project,” which aims to transform the exterior of their facility, as well as major portions of the interior, to make it a more welcoming, comfortable, flexible, and secure place for members and friends to enjoy community activities together.
