Ebay item 4/19/11 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XJS-SS-454-BBC-Turbo-400-Chevy-Conversion-/130508 ...
Current bid $5,000, no reserve, 18 bides 2 days left in auction. 137k miles.
Sellers description:
This Jaguar has a shoe horned in 454 Big Block Chevy motor with roller cam and Holley Projection Injection System with 5 knob adjustable control in the glove box, I used a John's Jaguar (Dallas TX) conversion kit with wiring, headers, electric fan, etc, conversion was done in 2003 when the car had approx. 130,000 miles on the odometer. The motor and tranmission were fresh at that time and now have approx. 8 K on them. The brakes were replaced all around, including the big job the rear brakes and rotors. The motor is not radical and I got 15+ MPG on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2003, the car runs in the 13 second quarter mile range at 100 MPH. The carpets were replaced with wool carpets, the front seats were recovered in leather, the back seats are original and show OK, but I never had any rear seat passengers that might crack or otherwise hurt their appearance. The trunk carpet was replaced with carpet out of a 90 XJS as were some of the lights including the tail lights, the headliner has been replaced recently. It has, as would be expected some issues, not sure if the cruise is working (have a new switch), the tach doesn't read correct as I was supposed to send to John's to have it recalibrated, paint has some surface imperfections, minor rust bubble over the right rear bumper no bleed through and hasn't got any worse in 6 years, right door has a ding from a parking lot. Car has been in a garage since conversion. I happen to be an electrician and have fixed most if not all electrical issues. The Stereo is a SONY CD Player with 4 speakers and sounds great. I installed a battery kill switch in the trunk, since it sat for long periods and this seemed to help save batteries.
