This 1988 Jaguar XJ-S V12 features a convertible conversion performed by Ohio-based coachbuilder Hess & Eisenhardt. It was purchased new by the current owner, and it shows 49k miles. The car is finished in Signal Red over Barley leather and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a beige soft top, 15″ five-spoke alloy wheels, a cassette stereo, cruise control, and automatic climate control. Work in preparation for the sale included overhauling the brakes and replacing the battery, air filters, and tires. This XJ-S V12 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner at no reserve with owner’s manuals, service records, a soft top boot, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Illinois title.
Jaguar commissioned Hess & Eisenhardt to convert XJ-S V12 coupes into convertibles between 1986 and 1988. This example is finished in Signal Red and features a beige soft top, a soft top boot, quad headlights, front fog lights, chrome mirror caps, a power antenna, and dual exhaust outlets. Finish imperfections are evident on the body, and the seller tells us that rust is present ahead of the rear wheel wells.
The 15″ five-spoke alloy wheels are mounted with Pirelli P5 Cinturato tires, which were fitted in April 2026. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs. Additional service in April 2026 included replacing the brake calipers and pads as well as the front rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in Barley leather along with burl wood veneer accents on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior features include a cassette stereo, cruise control, power windows, and automatic climate control.
The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 49k miles.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory rated at 262 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. Work in April 2026 included an oil change, a coolant flush, repairing the distributor, and replacing the battery, air filters, and hood struts.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
